Athanasia Biska is an Adjunct Professor of Modern Greek Language and Culture at St. John’s University and Adelphi University. Since May 2017, she has been co-directing the Spring Trip to Greece, a cross-disciplinary program in Modern Greek, Hellenic Studies and International Management created through the Tobin & St. John’s College.
She has extensive international experience and a deep understanding of diverse cultural and business practices. She has lived and worked in Greece, the U.K., and the U.S. Her academic credentials include a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Athens, a Master’s Degree in Communications from City University of London, and significant research credits in Doctoral Coursework and Publications.
She has broad experience in broadcast and print journalism, with outstanding credentials in all facets of creating, producing, and directing historical and cultural programming, special documentaries, and news programs. She began my media career as a journalist for the Athenian Daily Newspaper “Acropolis” in 1987. She moved to London in 1989 for graduate studies, while still working as a correspondent for Acropolis. She later became radio producer in the British Broadcasting Corporation, (B.B.C.). She returned to Greece in 1992 to join the leading TV station “Antenna”, simultaneously serving as a contributor, reporter, and managing editor for numerous professional publications. She produced and hosted “Week in Review”, the first program of its kind that addressed Greeks in U.S. (American Public Channel 25 of New York, covering the Tri-State area of NY, NJ, and CT). She was a founding member of the first Greek Satellite TV Program. In July 2002, she moved to Antenna Satellite in New York as the Head of News Department. Since 2002, she has served on the Board of Directors of various foundations to organize fundraising activities and programs, support education, and promote philanthropy and environmental awareness.
