Με την κατάθεση στεφάνου στο άγαλμα του Κολοκοτρώνη και τη βράβευση προσωπικοτήτων άρχισε σήμερα το βράδυ το τριήμερο των εκδηλώσεών της για τα 41 χρόνια της προσφοράς της στον ελληνισμό, η «AHEPA, Hellas-Cyprus”, η Αμερικανο-Ελληνική Εκπαιδευτική Προοδευτική Ένωση. «Η AHEPA είναι εδώ και στηρίζει τον ελληνισμό”, τόνισε από το βήμα της Παλαιάς Βουλής ο Κυβερνήτης της ένωσης κ. Βασίλειος Γκότζιος δίνοντας την επίσημη έναρξη των εκδηλώσεων και ειδικότερα του Συμποσίου με θέμα «Ελληνισμός και Οικουμενικότητα».

Ενθουσιασμένη από την επίσκεψή της στην πόλη μας είναι η γνωστή δημοσιογράφος του ΑΝΤΕΝΝΑ κ. Νάνσυ Μπίσκα, η οποία και διατηρεί δύο εκπομπές στο δορυφορικό πρόγραμμα του σταθμού: «ΑΠΟ ΤΗ ΜΙΑ ΕΛΛΑΔΑ ΣΤΗΝ ΑΛΛΗ» και «ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΑΓΩΓΗ»
Η δημοσιογράφος, ήρθε στο Μόντρεαλ μετά από πρόσκληση του Γενικού Προξενείου στης πόλης μας, του προέδρου της Ελληνικής Κοινότητας και της καθηγήτριας και δημοσιογράφου κ. Μαίρης Ρυσσάκη.

As part of a series of features examining Greek language education in the USA, we present excerpts from a discussion between Gerasimos Arsenis and Nancy Biska. Mr. Arsenis, former Minister of Education in Greece, is now a member of parliament. He is affiliated with the governing PASOK party. Nancy Biska has served as managing editor and journalist for leading Greek national and international newspapers and magazines.
Over the past fifteen years, Ms. Biska has held the position of Producer for the BBC Greek service, and has produced and hosted broadcasts for an independent Greek television network in New York. Ms. Biska, who has received numerous awards for her contributions to Greek culture, is President of the Democracy Foundation. The interview, originally conducted in Greek, has been translated by Nina Gatzoulis.

H Κρητική Αδελφότητα Νέα Υόρκης, σε ειδική εκδήλωση που διοργάνωσε στα Χανιά απένειμε το βραβείο του “Ελληνα του Εξωτερικού” στη διακεκριμένη δημοσιογράφο του ΑΝΤΕΝΝΑ TV, Νάνσυ Μπίσκα, για την πολυετή προσφορά της στους Ελληνες του Εξωτερικού και ιδιαίτερα στην Ελληνική παιδεία και τα Ελληνικά γράμματα. Η Νάνσυ Μπίσκα μιλά στο TGA NEWS για την Ομογένεια, τις εκπομπές της και τον εαυτό της.
Κατά τη διάρκεια ενός ταξιδιού της από το Λονδίνο στην Αθήνα, όπου σπούδαζε και εργαζόταν, είχε την ευκαιρία να συναντήσει τον πρόεδρο του ΑΝΤΕΝΝΑ κ. Μίνωα Κυριακού. Τη γοήτευσε η προσωπικότητα του και αποδέχθηκε αμέσως την πρότασή του για συνεργασία. Σύντομα της εμπιστεύθηκε την ευθύνη για την ενημέρωση των ομογενών στις ΗΠΑ μέσω της συνεργασίας του ΑΝΤΕΝΝΑ με το “ΚΑΝΑΛΙ 25” της Νέας Υόρκης. Mαζί με την Αλεξάνδρα Σπυριδάκη, τότε, ξεκίνησαν την εκπομπή “Week in Review”, ανοίγοντας για πρώτη φορά στον Ελληνισμό της Αμερικής ένα παράθυρο στην Ελλάδα, κάθε Κυριακή βράδυ.
